Dr. Gregory E. Moy
I am committed to helping improve the developmental trajectory of each client’s life. I do this by offering unconditional positive regard, acceptance, nurturance, and a sense of shared wondering. This helps young people, families, teachers, and supporters engage in the discovery of abilities and assets that we can develop by working together.
Training
I received my doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2014 after I completed an APA-accredited internship with the ISPIC Consortium; and after defending my dissertation (with distinction), “Moderating Variables in the Treatment Effects of the Second Step Program,” which was published in the top-ranked Journal of School Psychology (Elsevier). Prior to earning the doctorate, I received a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 2010. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN in 2003 with a double major in Neuroscience and Psychology with a minor in Biology.
Professional Experience
Early career work settings included MINCEP, a Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, and the University of Illinois-Chicago Institute for Juvenile Research (Psychiatry) as Clinical Coordinator of Research Programs with Dr. Edwin Cook, conducting genotyping assays for studies on autism, ADHD, and other child psychiatric disorders. During my time working under Dr. Lauren Wakschlag with the Institute for Health Research and Policy, I performed behavioral coding and analysis for studies on parent-child interactions, problem-solving styles, and consistent discipline with regards to use of addictive substances. As a visiting scholar with the Developmental and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at Northwestern University, I performed rigorous IQ, achievement, and language testing for brain imaging studies on reading and math studies conducted under the direction of Dr. James Booth. Lasting impressions were made during my time training as a clinician at Timber Ridge therapeutic day school and North Shore Academy, and while working as a school psychologist with the team at Renton Academy. From 2015-2020, I held a tenure-track faculty appointment at Seattle University at the rank of Assistant Professor, where I served as a Faculty Consultant to the Center of Community Engagement from 2017-2020. Prior to this, I worked as a school psychologist with a practice serving The Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth, IL. I served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation. I am the Principal Consultant at Stratagem Education, a provider of professional development trainings and services for schools.
